Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer - Command & Control (C2) to support a government consulting partner through a hybrid work environment based in Arvada, CO or Seattle, WA (also open to candidates in DC or El Segundo, CA). The Software Engineer will contribute to the development and integration of secure, scalable software solutions for satellite command and control systems, supporting mission-critical operations for DoD and Intelligence Community customers.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and integrate satellite C2 software with a focus on performance, security, and scalability.
- Collaborate with platform engineers to deploy solutions into Kubernetes environments, particularly within SCIFs.
- Integrate NSA Type 1 encryption algorithms (e.g., PEGASUS, CARIBOU) into satellite command workflows.
- Support onboarding of new satellite missions and ensure secure integration of products.
- Work with real-time embedded systems and hardware/software integration for autonomous space vehicles.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in satellite command & control or complex hardware/software integration.
- Proficiency in Python and Rust (or C++ as a substitute); familiarity with Ruby is a plus.
- Experience with satellite communication protocols (e.g., CCSDS, CSP, CFDP) and telemetry standards (e.g., XTCE, MIB).
- Strong background in integrating cryptographic systems, including NSA Type 1 algorithms (e.g., AES-256 GCM, PEGASUS, CARIBOU).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, DevSecOps, and deployment into secure environments.
- Experience with relational and time-series databases.
- Comfortable using Git/GitHub and working with open-source software.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and maintain an Active TS/SCI security clearance
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 **depending on experience**
