Join HukariAscendent's elite nuclear safety team and play a critical role in one of the nation's most important nuclear cleanup projects. We're seeking exceptional Nuclear Criticality Safety professionals to lead safety operations at the SLDA site in Pennsylvania, where your expertise will directly impact the safe remediation of high-hazard nuclear materials. This is a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while ensuring the highest standards of nuclear safety at a beryllium-sensitive facility.
**Start Date:** As soon as possible (no later than October 13th)
**Security Clearance:** Q-clearance or Top Secret required
**Special Requirements:** BeLPT (Beryllium Lymphocyte Proliferation Test) required prior to site access
- **Education:** College degree from accredited institution in science, nuclear engineering, or related field (advanced post-graduate degree preferred)
- **Experience:** 10+ years in NCS Program development/management, with minimum 5 years at HTRW cleanup, facility D&D, or similar fissile material projects
- **Leadership:** Minimum 2 years managing/supervising technical and field staff
- **Emergency Response:** Minimum 2 years developing/implementing Emergency Plans and serving as key Emergency Response organization member
Senior NCS Engineer Track
- **Education:** College degree from accredited institution in science, nuclear engineering, or related field
- **Experience:** 7+ years in NCS Program implementation, with minimum 3 years at HTRW cleanup, facility D&D, or similar fissile material projects
- **Specialized Experience:** Minimum 3 years with NDA and destructive assay for fissile material identification/quantification
- **Emergency Response:** Minimum 1 year as Emergency Response organization member
**Technical Expertise:**
- Expert/working knowledge of NCS modeling software and calculations
- Evaluation, interpretation, and application of modeling results
- ANSI/ANS-8 series standards and industry best practices
- Federal, state, and local nuclear regulations
- CAAS (Criticality Accident Alarm System) design and implementation
**Safety & Compliance:**
- Senior Criticality Safety Engineer qualifications per ANSI/ANS-8.26
- Hazard identification and integrated hazard analysis development
- Work stoppage authority when NCS controls are violated or insufficient
- "Safe by design" and passive engineering control emphasis
**Project & Program Management:**
- NCS Program development and implementation
- Training coordination and delivery
- Design review for new facilities and system modifications
- Routine audits and inspections of work areas

**Travel & Per Diem:** Cost reimbursable based on Federal Travel Regulations (Armstrong County, PA rates), 50-mile radius of site
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in nuclear engineering or related field
- Experience with DOE nuclear facilities and cleanup projects
- Professional certifications in nuclear safety or criticality analysis
- Previous work at beryllium-sensitive facilities
- Active security clearance
- Leadership experience in high-hazard industrial environments
