Summit Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Engineer (PKIE) to serve as Key Personnel supporting a federal program. The PKIE will provide expertise in the design, implementation, integration, and maintenance of secure PKI systems in compliance with applicable federal processes, standards, and specifications. The PKIE will serve as the primary technical resource for PKI matters, ensuring system security, continuity, and alignment with evolving federal cybersecurity and PKI policy requirements. This role operates within the contractor’s operations team while supporting the Program Manager on PKI-related issues. This position will be an on-site role at the designated primary location, five (5) days a week, unless otherwise agreed upon by the Government. For this instance it will be in Manassas, VA. You must have a DoD Top Secret Clearance. This is for a proposal that is in its early stages and this contract has not been awarded yet.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, integrate, test, and operate PKI systems in compliance with federal security standards and program specifications.
Provide subject matter expertise in PKI system architecture, lifecycle support, and secure operations.
Maintain awareness of evolving federal cybersecurity and PKI policies, initiatives, and compliance mandates, and assess their impact on the infrastructure.
Support the Program Manager in matters related to PKI system operations, policy interpretation, and risk management.
Perform troubleshooting, upgrades, and enhancements to maintain optimal PKI infrastructure performance.
Provide technical recommendations for improving PKI-related security, scalability, and interoperability.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure PKI solutions meet mission and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience providing PKI support for full lifecycle IT projects of similar scope, scale, and complexity.
Proven experience with PKI infrastructure design, implementation, and secure operations.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks and PKI policy standards.
Strong technical expertise in operating systems, networking, and security architectures.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in federal contracting environments.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
In lieu of a degree, an additional 5 years of relevant PKI support experience may be substituted.
Current operating system, networking, and security certifications (examples: Microsoft, Linux, Cisco, CompTIA Security+, CEH, or equivalent).
Clearance Requirements
Must have a DoD Top Secret Clearance based on contract requirements.
