They are seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Cable Technician in Doral, FL. Possible other locations for this position: Key West, Newport (FL), and Naval Station Guantánamo Bay (NSGB). Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Installs, terminates, and tests various network cabling, including copper (Cat5e, Cat6) and fiber optic cables, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
• Runs cables through ceilings, walls, and floors, and installs cable pathways like trays, conduits, and raceways, ensuring proper routing and support.
• Terminates cables with appropriate connectors (e.g., RJ-45, fiber optic) and patch panels, then tests and certifies installations for connectivity and performance.
• Assists with the installation of network devices (switches, routers, patch panels) in racks and cabinets, ensuring proper mounting and connections.
• Performs basic troubleshooting of cabling issues, conducts routine maintenance, and labels/documents installations for future reference, all under the guidance of senior staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must have a HS diploma.
• Basic understanding of network cabling concepts and terminology.
• Basic understanding of cable types and their applications.
• Ability to use basic cable testing equipment.
Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in electronics, telecommunications, or related field.
• Experience with datacenter construction and/or maintenance (DoD, civilian, or military experience).
• Vocational training in a related field (e.g., electronics, telecommunications).
• BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) certifications Installer Level 1 or Technician certifications. BICSI certifications (fiber optics). ETA (Electronics Technicians Association) certifications (cabling, networking). Cable manufacturer-specific training.
• Experience at a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, INDOPACOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, STRATCOM, TRANSCOM, SOCOM, SPACECOM).
