Northrop Grumman, AW, is seeking a Staff Dynamics-Structural Engineer (T05) to join our Loads and Environments / structural analysis team. This position will be at our AW (Advanced Weapon) Division facility located in Northridge, CA.
This is an on-site role and there is no remote work.
The selected candidate will join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. Our domain provides rewarding work that contributes to the latest advancements being made in the missile defense industry.
The selected candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organizations performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans. You will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems, and will also apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
As an engineer supporting the Loads and Environments team, the selected candidate will support the analysis needs of defense programs. The selected candidate will be expected to support in the development of structural loads, development of dynamic environments including shock, random vibration, sine vibration, and acoustic environments, support testing efforts of functional components to dynamic environments, and develop data analysis to ensure qualification of flight hardware, also to response to perform structural analysis task at needed base.

Primary Level Salary Range: $171,000.00 - $256,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Basic Qualifications for a Staff Dynamics-Structural Engineer (T05):
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with a minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering experience; or a master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with a minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience
- Proactive, strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management, organization, interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to clearly present technical information to all organizational levels
- Project and/or Systems Engineering skills are a plus
- It can work independently to represent the business unit
- Family with PDR/CDR
- Knowledge and experienced about dynamics on Missile
*Required Qualifications:
- Experience in a least one of the following areas:
- Deriving structural loads
- Creating FEA models
- Modeling structural dynamics (Shock, Vibration, and acoustics)
- Dynamic testing of components (shock and vibration)
- Performing Modal Surveys
- Analyzing time-series data
- Computer skills including Matlab, Python, NX, ANSYS, HyperMesh, Fortune, and NASTRAN
**Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidate must be able to pass a background check for the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA)
- Ability and willingness to travel +10% of the time
- **Must have an active US Government Secret Security Clearance prior to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering with emphasis in structures, dynamics, or controls
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools (MBSE)
- Experience with Missile design and analysis
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
