Duties

Reviews all operations, mobility, contingency, and exercise plans to ensure combat readiness for the SF Squadron. Analyzes exercise and contingency plans to determine required SF actions in support of mission requirements. Evaluates all equipment, manning and training requirements to meet wartime, contingency, deployment, and pre-planned tasking. Coordinates with other base organizations on applicable plans. Manages the development of plans for deployment, disaster preparedness, base recovery, contingency response, and other related plans. Prepares, updates, and reviews the SF portion of the base deployment, disaster preparedness, base recovery, contingency response, and related plans. Coordinates plans and annexes with SF supervisors. Initiates changes, modifications, additions and deletions to personnel and equipment tasking and assignments through the SF Commander for approval. Identifies deficiencies develops, and implements plans for increasing mission readiness. Ensures the SF unit meets requirements for wartime capability and AEF requirements.

Oversees the coordination, review, and implementation of SF manning authorizations and military personnel assignments.

Serves as the SF commander's key staff member responsible for the overall management of the unit-training program by overseeing the planning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluating all unit training related items. Must make instant decisions and select a course of action under high stress conditions. Serves as a training consultant to all unit members and determines if quality-training programs are in effect within all sections. Communicates effectively, orally and in writing, to prepare and present briefings, coordinates planning efforts and manages program activities. Implements and manages training programs, policies, and procedures, as directed by higher headquarters, commanders, and Base Training. Identifies training actions required to maintain unit combat readiness. Prepares and briefs the monthly Status of Training report to the Unit Commander. Coordinates and schedules personnel to attend USAF technical schools and other formal training. Coordinates civilian training seminars, workshops, etc. Verifies eligibility of personnel requesting schools. Identifies, analyzes, forecasts, and submits formal school quotas and workday requirements. Serves as squadron program manager for Professional Military Education.

Serves as the subject matter expert and consultant to the unit commander on all matters pertaining to the availability and management of the SF training program to meet the needs of the organization and mission. Develops and coordinates the implementation of the SF training plan. Establishes and coordinates training classes and programs with units and related base organizations. Coordinates annual SF Home Station Training, as well as, any required specialty training at Regional Training Centers or other training sites. Establishes and updates SF automated database for training and trend analysis. Forecasts and coordinates to ensure training resources are available.

Provides guidance to section supervisors in the selection of Enlisted Specialty Training (EST) trainers and task certifiers. Instructs and coordinates train-the-trainer and task certifier courses for personnel. Administers the SF Squadron EST program which includes management, qualification, upgrade, job knowledge, proficiency, professional development, and general military training. Counsels personnel on training responsibilities, deficiencies, and problem areas in conjunction with supervisors, prepares long-range career development programs for enlisted and officer personnel. Determines training requirements by reviewing and correlating documentation. Balances training needs against available resources. Ensures training programs provide required knowledge and skill factors necessary for safe and efficient mission performance.

Conducts unit self-inspections and assessments. Reviews requirements, identifies deficiencies, develops recommendations, prepares reports, conducts briefings, and performs follow-up actions. Submits written reports of completion to the unit commander and the base training office. unit.

When needed or directed, performs and enforces the full range of security forces duties within the military installation. Incumbent may be exposed to the day-to-day dangers of SF associated with law enforcement and security duties. Incumbent has full powers to detain, pursue, or direct detaining of person(s) fleeing a crime scene, active shooter, or attempting to resist arrest. Carries a firearm as required or directed.

Experience:

Managing the SF Squadron formal training program: Provides guidance and recommendations to the squadron commander on all aspects of SF programs for military personnel management, budget and management analysis, training, and training resources for drill-status personnel.

1 year equivalent to at least GS-7 Administrative Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
