MTSI is seeking an experienced Command and Control Enabler (C2E) Model-Based Systems Engineer to support an advanced air platform program. This role focuses on using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to design, integrate, and optimize systems that enable Command and Control (C2) operations. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in system architecture modeling, tactical communication integration, and multi-domain operations, while collaborating within cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges for mission-critical defense systems.

Responsibilities
  • System Architecture and Modeling:
  • Develop system models for Command and Control (C2) capabilities using MBSE tools such as SysML, Cameo Systems Modeler, or MagicDraw.
  • Design scalable, modular architectures that illustrate data flows, communication protocols, software components, and hardware integration across operational systems.
  • Integration of C2 Enabling Technologies:
  • Enable interoperability between key C2 systems, including tactical communication links (e.g., Link 16, SATCOM), situational awareness platforms, and mission planning tools.
  • Facilitate real-time secure communications and data sharing across air, ground, space, and cyber domains.
  • Performance Analysis and Validation:
  • Analyze system models to assess performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Conduct trade studies and simulations to evaluate system components and pathways for enabling effective multi-domain operations.
  • Security and Compliance:
  • Ensure alignment of C2 technologies and modeling processes with DoD cybersecurity frameworks, such as RMF (Risk Management Framework) and NIST SP 800-171.
  • Integrate encryption protocols, secure data exchanges, and compliance measures into C2-enabling systems.
  • Collaboration within IPT Framework:
  • Work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to coordinate efforts with systems engineers, software developers, and program stakeholders.
  • Build cross-domain solutions that meet technical objectives and operational requirements for defense missions.
  • Documentation and Technical Communication:
  • Develop comprehensive system definition documents, technical specifications, and validation reports.
  • Provide clear communication of system designs, models, and analysis results to program leadership and engineering staff.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, MBSE, or command and control systems.
  • Proficiency in MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, or IBM Rhapsody) and system modeling languages (SysML/UML).
  • Experience with tactical communication systems and protocols (e.g., Link 16, SATCOM, CDL).
  • Familiarity with DoD frameworks and standards, including MIL-STD specifications, RMF, and cybersecurity guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of systems integration processes across air, ground, and space domains.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.

Desired
  • 12+ years of experience in systems engineering, MBSE, or command and control systems.
  • Certifications that validate expertise in systems modeling and defense operations:
  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) - for systems engineering expertise.
  • Certified SysML Model Builder (OCUP) - for proficiency in building system models.
  • DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) Certification - for creating defense-specific architectures.
  • CompTIA Security+ - foundational cybersecurity certifications for defense applications.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) - advanced cybersecurity certification.
  • AWS or Azure Cloud Certifications - for expertise in hosting modern C2 systems in secure environments.
  • Familiarity with multi-domain operations and decision-support tools for C2 environments.
  • Experience with machine learning integration or advanced data visualization tools.
  • Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex systems into actionable solutions.
