Responsibilities
- Production Planning Coordination:
- Create and manage production schedules for mission-critical systems, ensuring on-time delivery in alignment with program milestones.
- Coordinate production workflows by working closely with manufacturing teams, suppliers, and engineering leads.
- Identify key dependencies and manage resources for high-priority production tasks.
- Critical Path Analysis:
- Track and analyze critical-path processes, anticipating bottlenecks to mitigate risks and optimize manufacturing efficiency.
- Develop and support recovery plans to ensure adherence to timelines during changes or disruptions.
- Planning Integration:
- Support integration between engineering design teams and manufacturing teams to align production schedules with technical requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on production planning tools and metrics to optimize parts delivery and subsystem timelines.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify process inefficiencies and propose improvements using Lean manufacturing methodologies or Six Sigma principles.
- Enhance inventory management, resource allocation, and workflow efficiency to support program success.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Assist with maintaining accurate records of production schedules, resource allocation, and milestones.
- Provide regular documentation and reports to leadership detailing production readiness and risk assessments.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure production planning activities meet aerospace and DoD standards for manufacturing and quality assurance.
- Monitor adherence to processes in compliance with MIL-STDs and ISO standards.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or related technical field.
- 7+ years of experience in production planning or manufacturing support, preferably in aerospace or defense industries.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, inventory management, and production scheduling.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve bottlenecks or challenges within critical-path workflows.
- Familiarity with manufacturing environments and tools, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems or equivalent.
- Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
Desired
- 12+ years of experience in production planning or manufacturing support, preferably in aerospace or defense industries.
- Certifications relevant to production planning and process optimization:
- Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM): Expertise in production planning and inventory control.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification: For process improvement and efficiency enhancements.
- Project Management Professional (PMP): Demonstrates ability to manage and coordinate schedules and resources effectively.
- Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE): Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing systems.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE): Supports quality assurance throughout production planning activities.
- Working knowledge of MIL-STD specifications and DoD manufacturing standards.
- Experience with program management tools such as MS Project, Jira, or Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
- Familiarity with advanced aerospace systems and components, including avionics, propulsion systems, and composite materials.
