Intrepid has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer to track platform requirements, identify aviation capability gaps, investigate aircraft design trade space, develop modeling and simulation capability/scenarios, and formulate Design of Experiment matrixes to support the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) ecosystem.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be required to outline and track aircraft capability changes while maintaining requirement traceability of end-user needs to the weapon system performance specification and delivered mission capability. Identify, document, and evaluate aircraft design alternatives and function allocation of performance requirements associated with Launched Effects (LE), mission payloads, autonomous teaming capabilities, and platform configurations associated with holistic aircraft survivability while operating within an A2/AD environment. Translate high-level FVL platform requirements - objectives, goals, and mission Use Cases into design and development low-level requirements. Develop and document LE functional capability blocks starting with the most foundational tasks through an operational Concept of Operations. Develop and archive digital thread artifacts that implement a Model Based System Engineering aviation architecture and enterprise.
Additionally, the candidate will coordinate modeling, simulation, and results analysis activities with an emphasis on developing new code and automated simulation processes. Implement and execute a wide variety of engineering and campaign modeling/analysis tools to automate input and output processes across multiple models and simulations that create an integrated high-fidelity modeling architecture. Plan and execute modeling and simulation systems development projects. Coordinate analysis applying engineering processes and modeling techniques to the development of weapon systems. Facilitate trade-off studies related to operational issues and review plans for system integration, operation, and maintenance of the high-fidelity modeling environment. Support efforts to develop and update tools for analysis of complex, technical problems relating to aircraft survivability and threat systems. Work with subject matter experts and aviation customers to explore mission Concept of Operations (CONOPs) and architectures to solve some of the hardest intelligence problems facing the nation.

  • BA or BS degree in STEM related field
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Reports to Redstone Arsenal, AL full time
  • Experience with performing modeling, simulation, and analysis tasks
  • Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) experience
  • Experience assessing system survivability, system effectiveness, and overall system performance in engagement and mission-level scenario, threat models, and command and control, and communication models for new and existing system simulation frameworks
  • An active TS/SCI clearance, and the ability to maintain it throughout employment

Desired Qualifications:
  • Ability to conduct analysis and develop briefings, documents, and required results documentation
