Mid-Level Mission Full Stack Software Engineer

Tyto Athene is searching for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our CTO shop. This role is multi-faceted. The successful candidate is a highly skilled and innovative Full Stack Engineer to pioneer and support the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions at the DoD's tactical mission edge. This role is critical to achieving mission advantage by fusing diverse, real-time sensor data streams in resource-constrained, denied, degraded, intermittent, and limited (DDIL) environments. You will empower warfighters and intelligence analysts with immediate, actionable insights, enabling rapid decision-making and enhancing situational awareness in critical operational scenarios. Your deep experience in supporting the mission of the US warfighter enables you to easily translate complex military mission requirements and operational challenges into actionable AI/ML problems and innovative solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the complete software development process from conception to deployment
• Work with end-users in the field and in a lab environment to develop software that meets operational requirements.
• Manage the end-to-end life cycle to produce software and applications in collaboration with mission ML engineers and domain subject matter experts.
• Mature software from idea to prototype to fully operational product.

Qualifications

Required:

• Experience designing and developing high-quality, scalable, and secure web, enterprise, and edge applications
• Strong skills in back-end development using Node.js or Python
• Experience writing clean, maintainable, and testable code
• Experience building reusable components and libraries for future use
• History of mentoring and teaching other team members, especially junior members
• Great understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, and Azure
• Must have strong python experience including using frameworks like React, Agular, Flask, Django, or FastAPI
• Experience working with package managers like Poetry
• Experience with system architecture and system integration
• Experience designing highly modular systems with low coupling by utilizing Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) best practices and design patterns
• Strong experience with using database systems like MySQL or PostgreSQL, including writing SQL statements and database schemas

Desired:

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker
• Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
• Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts

Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience or more

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or a related field

Clearance: Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance

Compensation:

• Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically between $175,000-$225,000. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
