Pay Range

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for performing diverse and complex duties requiring a high level of initiative and the ability to work independently and simultaneously.
This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.
Responsibilities
- Operates heavy equipment such as motor graders, heavy loaders, carryalls, excavators, bulldozers, rollers, scrapers, cranes and large industrial tractors with attachments. Equipment is used to grade, contour, excavate, load or move dirt, gravel or other materials.
- Must be able to read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans.
- Perform and document pre-operational / post-operational checks of equipment
- Perform minor maintenance (grease, adjustments) and make minor emergency repairs to equipment
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a valid US driver's license.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have one or more years of demonstrated recent experience operating heavy equipment to include, but not limited to, backhoes, road graders, dump trucks, front end/scoop loaders, excavators, bulldozers, cranes, and similar equipment.
- Ability to obtain DOD SECRET clearance, and favorable NAIC and FBI fingerprint checks
- Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
Minimum Skills:
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and articulate manner.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast past environment with changing priorities; adaptable to change and a quick learner.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
- Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Desired Qualifications:
- Commercial Driver License preferred
- CDL Hazardous Materials Endorsement

Working Conditions
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
- May be exposed to loud noises.
- May be exposed to changing weather conditions including heat, cold, and wind.
