Job Summary
B&A is looking for a Technical Writer to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer to support the development and maintenance of technical documentation for U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) systems. The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, editing, and managing technical manuals, training materials, and logistics product data in compliance with government and military standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent technical writing skills, and the ability to collaborate with engineers, trainers, and program managers to ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant.

Job Summary
B&A is looking for a Technical Writer to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer to support the development and maintenance of technical documentation for U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) systems. The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, editing, and managing technical manuals, training materials, and logistics product data in compliance with government and military standards. Responsibilities:
- Develop, edit, and deliver Electronic Technical Manuals (ETMs), including installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance instructions.
- Prepare and maintain Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists (RPSTLs) with exploded views of assemblies and subassemblies.
- Create and update Provisioning Technical Documentation (PTD) including:
- Provisioning Parts Lists (PPL) and Index (PPLI)
- Long Lead Time Items List (LLTIL)
- Tools and Test Equipment List (TTEL)
- Common and Bulk Items List (CBIL)
- Design Change Notices (DCN)
- Develop and format Engineering Data for Provisioning (EDFP) including specifications, drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and supporting descriptions.
- Write and organize training documentation (lesson plans, student guides, job aids, test items) for operator and maintainer courses; deliver in hard copy and digital formats.
- Prepare, edit, and manage government Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables, including:
- CDRL D001 - Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)
- CDRL D002 - Logistics Product Data Summaries - Provisioning Parts Lists (PPL)
- CDRL D003 - Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) Health Assessment Report
- CDRL D004 - Provisioning Screening Data
- CDRL D005 - Logistics Product Data Summaries - Common and Bulk Items List (CBIL)
- CDRL D006 - Logistics Product Data Summaries - Long Lead Time Items List (LLTIL)

- CDRL D008 - Engineering Data for Provisioning (EDFP)

- Ensure compliance with military documentation standards (MIL-HDBK-502, MIL-STD-130N, DFARS, SAE GEIA-STD-0007, and Marine Corps unique data elements).
- Obtain and document copyright releases for technical manuals and training materials.
- Manage document lifecycle including drafting, revisions, approvals, and updates tied to Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
- Collaborate with engineers, logisticians, and program stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and timely delivery of all documentation.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience writing and editing technical documentation in a military, aerospace, or defense environment.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency with technical writing tools (MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, XML/SGML-based authoring tools, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with DoD and USMC documentation standards and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deliverables on schedule.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Desired Skills:
- Experience developing ETMs, RPSTLs, and logistics product data for defense programs.
- Working knowledge of provisioning documentation standards (SAE GEIA-STD-0007, MIL-HDBK-502).
- Familiarity with Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) and S1000D standards.
- Prior experience supporting training development (lesson plans, student materials, job aids).
