DESCRIPTION

As a solutions architect in the US Federal Civilian, Sciences team you will help civilian agencies such as NASA and the Department Of Energy meet their mission goals through using cloud. You will be part of a collaborative team focused on personal and professional growth with both mentorship and the mentoring of others.

Some of the work that has been done involve creating data processing pipelines for data coming from satellites, helping researchers process data more quickly through high performance computing, and even helping enable the sharing of science with the public in a scalable way through web sites.

As a Solutions Architect within AWS, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build broad use of Amazon's utility computing web services (e.g., AWS EC2, AWS S3, AWS RDS, HPC, and AWS CloudFront) directly with customers and our ecosystem of system integrators and solution providers.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance.

Key job responsibilities
Your broad responsibilities will include:
- Helping U.S. Federal Civilian Government organizations implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems.
- Owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects.
- Defining implementation architectures, responding to RFPs, developing a deep expertise in the AWS technologies as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform.
- Being a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services.

They lead efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge among the AWS solution architect community. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Bachelor's degree, or CASP+ (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner) or CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) or Cloud+ or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of the AWS services.
- Experience in a technical role within a sales organization.
- Experience in Scientific or Space fields within Federal Civilian government.
- Understanding of infrastructure and security requirements, such as FedRAMP Moderate/High, HIPAA, DoD SRG, CJIS, etc.
- Demonstrated experience leading or developing high quality, enterprise scale software products using a structured system development lifecycle.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
