Position Summary:
Comtech is looking for a qualified Network Engineer II candidate who will maintain the integrity of the operating system environment. The candidate must perform system software upgrades, including planning and scheduling, testing, and coordination. The candidate will perform workstation and server administration setup. The candidate must be capable of coordinating disk space planning and management. The candidate must be capable of maintaining growth statistics, space forecasts, tape libraries, and software and hardware inventories. The candidate will perform data backups and recoveries. The candidate will monitor and maintain continuity with system software licensing and maintenance agreements. The candidate will provide recommendations regarding hardware and system software planning and budgeting. The candidate must be able to maintain the production change control schedule and participate in change control. The candidate will be required to work under direct supervision with a spirit of cooperation and must exhibit a tenacious work ethic while possessing the drive and critical thinking to excel.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
This position will perform the following duties:
• Install, configure, and maintain an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers.
• Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems.
• Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups.
• Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access.
• Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses.
• May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
• Project specific: assists in the installation, maintenance, and usage of the organization's local area network.
• Manage network performance and maintain network security.
• Ensure that security procedures are implemented and enforced.
• Install all network software.
• Evaluates, develops and maintains telecommunications systems.
• Troubleshoots network problems.
• Establishes and implements network policies, procedures, and standards and ensures their conformance with information systems and organization objectives.
• Trains users on network operation.
• Frequently reports to a Senior Network Engineer.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
All candidates will have the following minimum skills:
• Experience with current best practices in IT standards, principles (ITIL), and security practices.
• Ability to coordinate and execute operational requirements with minimal oversight.
• Ability to meet eligibility requirements to access classified information.
• Must possess interpersonal skills required to communicate with the customer and other team members effectively and tactfully.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with diverse audiences, internally and externally, to foster strong teamwork.
• Work well independently or as a member of a team environment.
• Detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
All candidates will have the following education/experience:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Network Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
• Minimum of five (5) years of recent specialized experience
• CompTIA Security+ (required)
• CompTIA Network+ (preferred)
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Experience in maintaining certifications related to the requirements of the position
In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, all candidates will have the following education/experience:
• Associate’s degree
• Minimum of seven (7) years of recent specialized experience

• Must have an active Secret Clearance.
