You will be a trusted source of stability, working directly with students, parents, educators, and installation leadership to deliver short-term, non-medical counseling. Your work will empower young people to navigate the unique stressors of military life, from frequent moves to parental deployments, fostering resilience and success in their academic and personal lives.
What You'll Do
- Be a Trusted Guide: Provide in-person, solution-focused counseling to children and adolescents of active-duty service members.
- Be an Integrated Partner: Conduct individual, group, and classroom-based behavioral health support, and consult with parents, teachers, and school staff on student well-being.
- Educate the Community: Facilitate training and wellness presentations on stress, transitions, grief, and resilience.
- Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with school officials and military leadership to ensure service delivery aligns with program goals and community needs.
- Engage the Community: Support youth programs, summer camps, and other on-demand assignments as needed.
- Uphold Excellence: Maintain compliance with DoD standards and school policies while upholding strict confidentiality.
Schedule & Site Details
- This is an onsite role at a K-12 school near Grand Forks Air Force Base, providing a consistent and structured environment.
- Your schedule is aligned with the school day and academic calendar, with the potential for support during youth programs or special events.
Requirements
We are looking for a dedicated professional who is ready to make a profound impact.
- Master's degree in a behavioral health field (e.g., Counseling, Social Work, Psychology).
- An active, unrestricted clinical license in any U.S. state:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW / LICSW)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
- Please note: LMSW, LADC, associate-level, or supervised licenses are NOT eligible.
- Prior experience in school-based or youth-focused behavioral health settings.
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with children, adolescents, and adults.
- A deep understanding of military culture and family dynamics.
- U.S. citizenship and fluency in English.
- Must pass all federal background investigations and installation-specific suitability checks.
- Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in MFLC or other military family support programs.
- Familiarity with school systems and educational frameworks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
