Piper Companies is seeking a Network Engineer who will enhance the cybersecurity posture through advanced traffic analysis and optimization. The network engineer will be onsite located in Oakton, VA . For this opportunity, the right individual must be able to obtain or maintain a security clearance.
Requirements for the Network Engineer include:
- Analyze PCAP data to identify threats, anomalies, and performance issues.
- Optimize monitoring tools (ExtraHop, SolarWinds, Splunk) for full visibility.
- Conduct protocol-level analysis (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, SMTP, TLS, VPN).
- Tune alerts, dashboards, and data feeds based on traffic sources.
- Develop technical and non-technical reports with actionable insights.
- Document troubleshooting procedures (e.g., MTU/fragmentation).
- Assist in configuring Cisco products for enhanced monitoring.
- Mentor junior engineers and analysts on traffic analysis techniques.
- Deliver monthly reports, optimized tool configurations, and knowledge transfer sessions.
Qualifications for the Network Engineer include:
- 5+ years of experience in network monitoring, traffic analysis, or cybersecurity.
- Strong experience with ExtraHop, SolarWinds, and Splunk.
- Deep understanding of network protocols and packet analysis.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or analysts.
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
- Familiarity with Cisco network products and configurations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field.
Compensation for the Network Engineer includes:
- Salary range: $140,000 - $200,000
