You will be instrumental in supporting the critical behavioral health needs of vulnerable children in DHS care at a federal facility in San Diego, CA.

Your Mission
As a Lead Behavioral Health Specialist, you will be on the front lines, providing day-to-day clinical leadership and strategic oversight. Your work will directly impact the well-being of children during a critical time in their lives.
- Lead and Mentor: Supervise and provide expert guidance to Child Well-Being Specialists across all shifts.
- Be the Primary Liaison: Serve as the crucial link between your team, CBP leadership, DHS headquarters, and partner organizations.
- Resolve High-Need Cases: Manage complex and high-stakes child well-being cases with a focus on quick, compassionate escalation and resolution.
- Champion Operational Excellence: Oversee shift coverage, coordinate surge staffing, and drive program improvements in behavioral health protocols.
- Build Bridges: Facilitate seamless interagency communication and collaborative care with local, state, and federal entities.
Schedule & Shift Details
This is a full-time, on-site leadership role designed for an individual who is ready to meet the demands of a critical mission:
- 8 hours onsite + 4 hours on-call per day (as needed).
- Shifts will include nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
- You must be able to respond onsite during on-call hours if a critical need arises.
Requirements
- We are looking for a decisive, empathetic, and experienced leader.
- Master's or Doctoral degree in a behavioral health field.
- An active, unrestricted license as one of the following:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW/LICSW)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Psychologist (LP)
- At least 5 years of post-licensure experience with a deep understanding of:
- Child development and welfare.
- Trauma-informed care and interventions.
- Clinical evaluations and case management.
- A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, or social services setting.
- Strong skills in team management, communication, and urgent decision-making.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English is a significant plus (minimum ILR 3/5 or equivalent).
- A demonstrated ability to lead with confidence and compassion in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
