Job Description:
L3Harris is looking for candidates for the Senior Scientist in Hardware and RF Electrical Engineering in our Navigation Solutions (NS) business in Anaheim, CA (IEC). The candidate will be responsible for and provide senior hands-on expert level in hardware and RF Electrical engineering on multiple programs. The candidate must have deep Engineering and broad Engineering technical expertise, industry recognition in defense and commercial applications, and experience in military GPS and Position Navigation and Timing (PNT) technology or other RF hardware designs. Our Navigation Solutions products provide advanced military GPS and Position, Navigation, Timing (PNT) capabilities in military embedded real-time systems that can be used in weapons, ground, airborne, maritime, and space environments.
Essential Functions:
· Provides overall hands-on technical expertise in Hardware and RF Electrical Engineering for NS programs.
· Recognized as an external and internal expert and thought leader with deep mastery and substantive technical expertise in hardware, RF Electrical, and ASIC design, development, test, and manufacturing as well as advanced business knowledge and leadership capabilities.
· Expert hands-on knowledge of Electrical Engineering low frequency and high frequency (RF) Analog and Digital circuit and CCB design.
· Ensures a cohesive team and trust within the Hardware Engineering Organization.
· Communicates within and outside own function to explain and gains cooperation on policies and practices.
· Makes substantial improvements to processes, systems, and solutions.
· Plans and establishes goals and objectives for Hardware Engineering with direct impact on the short-term and long-term operational results.
· Leads, directs, coaches, and reviews the work of Hardware Engineering personnel to accomplish near-term and long-term operational plans and results.
· Works under consultative direction against annual goals and objectives to manage large, complex project initiatives of strategic importance to the organization.
· Maintains outstanding communication with higher management and with the employees in the organization.
· Collaborate with other business areas to execute programs and business development.
· On-site in Anaheim, CA with potential travel up to 10% of the time.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience or a Graduate degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
· 20+ years of experience in hands-on RF Electrical Engineering and Signal Processing Design, Development, Test, and Manufacturing for both Defense and Commercial Applications with experience with developing ASICS.
· 15+ years of experience in low and high frequency (RF) Analog and Digital circuit, CCB design, and ASIC architecture, simulation, emulation, power analysis, placement, routing, layout, and timing.
· 15+ years of experience in leading senior hardware engineering teams and hands-on detailed RF hardware engineering to successfully complete project objectives within stringent technical, schedule, and budget requirements.
· 15+ years experience demonstrating strong verbal and written skills for both the internal team and with customers and program stakeholders.
· Ability to obtain and hold a DoD SECRET clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
· Recognized as an Analog RF Electrical, Radio, and/or ASIC expert in Industry expert in the ASIC Industry.
· Experience and understanding in detailed RF receiver designs in military GPS, MGNSS, other PNT technology.
· Expert in detailed knowledge of the hardware design and hardware capabilities ranging from throughput, power consumption, thermal, component, aging and packaging.
· Experience with HAM radio a plus.
· Expert in troubleshooting detailed hardware board designs in a hardware lab.
· Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) to all levels of personnel experience.
· Active DoD SECRET clearance.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $200,000 - $300,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), EAP, and company-paid holidays.
