Boeing Defense Space and Security is seeking a Lead or Senior Systems Engineer to develop Concept of Operation studies for next generation air refueling applications in the Puget Sound area in support of a major development program. The position provides an opportunity to work with an experienced, interdisciplinary team to develop unique systems to meet challenging requirements on air refueling development programs. This position will be based in Everett, WA.

Our team works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering (focusing on operational concepts and use cases), as well as Design Teams (air refueling systems, structures, wiring, vision systems and mission system design teams)
  • Evaluate mission types, determine mission requirements, assess applicability of specialized missions, and evaluate system solutions to meet customer needs
  • Develop new and modify existing modeling and simulation tools to help with Concept of Operation scenarios
  • Develop data-based observations and recommendations that will be presented to senior leadership
  • Work with customers, Boeing leadership, and software & systems engineers to translate high level customer requirements into specific work packages and detailed hardware & software requirements
  • Engage in new business pursuits including white papers and proposals
  • Utilize model based systems engineering concepts and practices (e.g. SysML, Cameo) to document engineering outcomes


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Top Secret Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. (An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret clearance Post Start is required).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience or knowledge of mission level analysis tools
  • Experience developing use cases and OV1 style diagrams
  • Experience developing mission scenarios or design reference missions


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Working knowledge of model based systems engineering concepts and practices (e.g. SysML, Cameo)
  • USAF Tankers programmatic or operational experience

Summary pay range:

(Lead) Level 4: $128,350 - $143,650

(Senior) Level 5 - $157,250 - $212,750
