Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Storage Engineer position will own the full scope of backup and restore-related duties for the client, ensure legal and technical compliance, and update and maintain documentation. The ideal candidate will be able to support the following functions:
- Monitoring and managing regular backups, disaster recovery testing, and data retention activities
- Supporting backup and recovery solutions including installation and configuration of backup client
- Scheduling all backup jobs and deconflicting cron jobs (Oracle, PeopleSoft)
- Verifying client registration with backup software and determining appropriate data sets
- Monitoring replication jobs to ensure successful execution from source site to target site
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to backup and recovery systems
- Addressing Media server issues affecting various environments
- Troubleshooting client availability with Avamar clients and native backup tools
- Supporting High Availability for Media Servers to mitigate infrastructure failures
- Providing backup metrics and analysis for capacity utilization, performance, and retention policy impacts
- Forecasting storage needs based on backup metrics and usage patterns
- Optimizing backup and recovery system performance
- Creating and maintaining system configuration documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Clearance Required:
- Active Secret Clearance required
Required Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years' experience with EMC Avamar technology
- 3+ years' experience with EMC DataDomain technology
- 5+ years' experience in Windows 2016 or above server administration
- 3+ years' experience as a Cisco MDS switch Administrator
- 2+ years' experience with PURE FlashArray/FlashBlade hardware and operating system administration
Preferred Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience in datacenter backup technologies and practices
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills in hybrid Microsoft Windows/Linux server environments
- Proficiency with PURE FlashArray/FlashBlade storage solutions
- Expertise in Cisco MDS switch configuration and administration
- Knowledge of Windows 2016 or above server administration
- Knowledge of Linux and/or similar Unix-based servers
- EMC Proven Professional Certification
- At least two of the following certifications: FlashArray and/or FlashBlade Associate/Professional/Specialist, Avamar, Data Domain, Dell EMC Unity
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) - Windows Server 2016 track (preferred)
- Experience with EMC Storage Technologies (System Administration)
- Proficiency with Dell PowerProtect (EMC) DataDomain
- Experience with Pure FlashArray and/or FlashBlade
- Storage-specific training from HP, DellEMC, Pure, or NetApp
