Description of Duties:
The Linux System Administrator (Rapid Response) supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
• Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers/systems
• Ensure system changes are completed in accordance with developer documentation, configuration management and documentation practices
• Utilize and follow developer-provided documentation to build and configure server/system hardware and software to baseline specifications
• Research technologies and leverage optimization techniques to ensure systems operate efficiently
• Perform necessary physical inspections and research using system/event logs and appropriate tools/software to identify problems, trends and aid in troubleshooting actions
• Assist integration managers in problem definition and root cause analysis as needed
• Provide timely updates to appropriate team leads, managers and stakeholders on status of tasks and troubleshooting efforts
• Make recommendations to plan, develop and execute work plans that achieve critical-path requirements
• Identify developer-documentation errors and provide to appropriate channels / personnel for correction
• Use REMEDY ticketing system to report, track and document problems and resolution life-cycle actions on faulty systems

Basic Requirements:
• Must have 8, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
• Must have 6, or more, years of directly related experience in IT systems, installing and configuring operating systems and virtual machines, and troubleshooting
• Must have experience building, configuring and deploying servers/systems using VMware 7.0 (or higher)
• Must have administration experience on RHEL 7 / 8 using Command Line Interface
• Have experience working with Ansible automation
• Knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations
• Must have a current DoD approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security CE
• Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Desired Requirements:
• Have experience configuring and managing NetApp storage devices
• Have network troubleshooting experience
• Have experience implementing Multi Factor Authentication methodology
• Have experience with HP server hardware
• Degree in an IT or Engineering related discipline
This position is expected to pay $115,000 - $125,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
