Amentum is supporting the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in providing specialized training, advisory and mentoring services to National Training Center (NTC).

The National Training Center (NTC), the Department's Center of Excellence for Security and Safety Training and Professional Development, designs, develops, and implements state-of-the-art security and safety training programs for Department federal and contractor personnel nationwide, including the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).

POSITION SUMMARY:

Amentum is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Instructional System Designer Level 2 in Albuquerque, NM. The Instructional System Designer Level 2 (ISD Level 2) will design, develop and delivering accurate instructional materials while maintaining and enhancing DOE training programs. The ISD Level 2 will work with NTC training team, supervisors, and business process owners to incorporate training needs into future programs to achieve critical business objectives, designing and developing innovative, comprehensive curriculums and certification programs, utilizing advanced design/development techniques and tools of adult learning theory.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the Department's National Training Center training operations and have previously provided Instructional ISD Level 2 services at the training center.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with other team members to design and maintain engaging and effective instructional materials utilizing varying instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Act as project manager for the course planning and development process as well as the writing of project plans.
  • Ensure milestones are met and deliverables are submitted as scheduled.
  • Develop and provide recommendations for sequencing of instruction and the use of needs assessments and job analyses.
  • Design and maintain course materials for classroom and scenario-based environments in accordance with DOE and other applicable instructional design principles.
  • Assess performance outcomes to analyze current and desired levels of performance in a systematic manner and offer interventions with which to improve performance and evaluate results.
  • Continually explore new technologies for potential application to instructional problems and associated performance improvement efforts.
  • Apply and follow basic safety and security concepts and policies.
  • Perform instructional design duties beyond those identified here and provide general technical guidance and assistance to Instructional Systems Designers I.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in instructional design, human performance technology, education, or related training-specific area.
  • At least three years' experience working as an instructional designer or curriculum developer.
  • Experience in planning and executing several long-term projects simultaneously.
  • Must execute training product design and maintenance to meet company objectives.
  • Must determine appropriate training methodologies and ascertain what is best for specific projects.
  • Must communicate clearly both in writing and verbally.
  • Must partner with other teams to ensure effective product development and maintenance.
  • Must use systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Commitment to company values.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOE BAO (Building Access Only) clearance or currently possess a DOE BAO clearance and must maintain the BAO clearance for the duration of the contract. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a DOE BAO clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior DOE NTC experience as a ISD Level 2.
