Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified Senior Systems Engineer to provide advanced engineering expertise in the design, development, integration, and sustainment of complex systems supporting Department of Defense (DoD) missions and programs. The Senior Systems Engineer will apply systems engineering principles, DoD acquisition frameworks, and industry best practices to ensure program success across the full system lifecycle.
Systems Engineer required Skills and Experience
* Active TS/SCI Clearance
* 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or related roles, with direct support to DoD or Federal programs
* Strong background in requirements development, system architecture, and lifecycle engineering
* Knowledge of DoD acquisition processes (e.g., DoD 5000, JCIDS, SE processes)
* Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Cameo, or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) frameworks
* Experience conducting system integration, verification & validation (V&V), and test planning
* Familiarity with DoD mission areas of sustainment, maintenance, and life cycle support; prior project experience preferred
* Understanding of cybersecurity, risk management, and mission assurance for defense systems
* Ability to analyze complex technical problems and provide innovative solutions
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience briefing senior leadership
* Lead systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, architecture development, design, integration, verification, and validation
* Translate operational and mission needs into technical requirements and system specifications
* Develop system architectures, interface definitions, and data flows for mission-critical applications
* Conduct trade studies, risk assessments, and performance analyses to inform design decisions
* Collaborate with software, hardware, and cybersecurity engineers to ensure integrated solutions
* Support system integration, testing, and evaluation across lab, simulation, and operational environments
* Ensure compliance with DoD standards, acquisition processes, and cybersecurity requirements
* Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and deliverables for leadership and stakeholders
* Mentor and provide guidance to junior systems engineers
Systems Engineer required Education and Certifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
* Master's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field (preferred)
* Professional Engineer (PE) license (if applicable to field of study)
* INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP or ESEP)
* DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP)
* Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) certification (SysML, Cameo, etc.)
* PMP or DAWIA certification (for acquisition-related systems engineering roles)
