Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified Senior Software Engineer to provide advanced software engineering expertise in the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical systems supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs. The Senior Software Engineer will apply industry best practices, modern development methodologies, and DoD standards to ensure reliable system functionality and long-term mission readiness.
Skills / Experience Required
* Active TS/SCI Clearance
* 8+ years of experience in software engineering or related roles, with proven support of DoD or federal programs
* Experience in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or C#
* Experience with agile development, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git)
* Knowledge of DoD software development lifecycle (SDLC), cybersecurity standards, and mission-critical systems
* Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or DoD Cloud) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
* Strong understanding of system integration, APIs, and middleware
* Familiarity with DoD functional mission areas of sustainment, maintenance, and life cycle support; prior experience on related projects is preferred
* Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to design innovative solutions under tight deadlines
* Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting technical solutions to senior leadership
* Lead the design, development, testing, and integration of software applications for DoD systems
* Translate mission and operational requirements into scalable software architectures and solutions
* Develop secure, efficient, and maintainable code in compliance with DoD cybersecurity and software assurance standards
* Collaborate with system engineers, program managers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with program objectives
* Conduct code reviews, performance testing, and troubleshooting to ensure software quality and reliability
* Guide junior engineers through mentoring and knowledge sharing
* Support DevSecOps pipelines and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes for rapid deployment
* Prepare documentation, technical reports, and briefings for leadership and stakeholders
Education / Certifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
* Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (preferred)
* Professional Engineer (PE) license (if applicable to field of study)
* DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification (e.g., Security+)
* Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP)
* AWS/Azure Professional Certification (Cloud Solutions)
* Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar DevSecOps/Containerization certifications
