Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join a
highly visible federal cybersecurity contract in Chantilly, VA. This role will play a mission
critical part in the sustainment and modernization of legacy cybersecurity systems, as well
as the design and deployment of new enterprise security services. Specifically, the
engineer will provide systems engineering expertise to support the accreditation of a High
Performance Computing (HPC) environment, partnering with government technical and
security stakeholders to ensure compliance, operational efficiency, and long-term
sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
* Support Authorization & Assessment (A&A) processes to achieve system
accreditation for HPC environments.
* Configure, install, and document a standalone HPC system in coordination with
government personnel and technical teams.
* Develop, maintain, and review System Security Plans, Configuration Management
Plans, Data Management Plans, and CONOPS.
* Create and implement visualization solutions for system monitoring and
performance metrics.
* Track, monitor, and update system status within assessment queues.
* Conduct technical security assessments to identify vulnerabilities, ensure
compliance with Information Assurance (IA) standards, and recommend mitigation
strategies.
* Collaborate with network engineers, data scientists, and security personnel to
ensure secure, scalable system solutions.
* Provide technical documentation, reporting, and knowledge transfer to sponsor
stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience creating and reviewing System Security Plans or Body of
Evidence (BOE) documentation.
* Proficiency with Java and Oracle PL/SQL.
* Experience developing dashboards and reports using data visualization tools.
Preferred Skills
* Familiarity with Sponsor A&A processes.
* Experience with RESTful web service development.
* Knowledge of Red Hat, CentOS, or Rocky Linux.
* Hands-on experience with web application development.
* Experience integrating IA and security systems across networking, virtualization,
cloud, or enclave environments.
* Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or equivalent).
Education
* Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Security,
or related field preferred.
* In lieu of degree, equivalent professional experience will be considered.
