Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking an experienced PWB Layout Designer for our Avionics Design Group in our Chandler, AZ facility.
The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of automation.
The PWB Layout Designer will design and develop the Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs) used in our launch vehicle avionics assemblies and will be responsible for layout design and creation of documentation and files for PWB fabrication. Job responsibilities will include the following:

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance is desired, a current Secret Clearance is preferable.
Primary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Work in concert with Schematic Designers and Mechanical Engineering to create complex multi-layer designs for PWB's and Flex circuits using the latest technologies (including BGA's, micro-vias, stacked micro-via, high speed, and controlled impedance boards)
- Generate support documentation to meet NGC standards
- Design PWB's for digital, analog, mixed signal, and power applications
- Develop layer stack-ups working with engineering staff and external fabrication subcontractors
- Incorporate complex changes utilizing CAD tools. Check designs, drawings and databases for accuracy
- Attend/Support ERB/CCBs
- Review and approve design documents and data products
- Support proposal efforts as needed: obtain quotations, material costs, BOM support, generate white papers, generate BOEs, cost and schedule estimates
Required qualifications:
- 8 Years with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
- Minimum 5 years recent PWB design experience using the Cadence Allegro design tool suite;
- Experience with high density complex, multilayer boards (6-16 layers);
- Experience with layout of analog and digital circuits;
- Experience with layout/routing of high speed digital and controlled-impedance circuits;
- Experience with rigid-flex design;
- Experience with DFM tools such as CAM350
- Ability to prepare artwork (ODB++) for fabrication of PWBs;
- Extensive experience with footprint/symbol creation and library management;
- Understanding of IPC-2221 and IPC-7351 specifications;
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- AA/AS degree or other 2-year post high school training with a minimum of 20 years of PWB design experience;
US Citizenship is required.
