Basic Requirement for Pharmacist:
Degree: Completion of a doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
Medical Requirement: Applicants must be able to distinguish basic colors.
Qualifications GS-12: Specialized Experience is defined as at least one year of professional pharmacy experience which includes dispensing medication and preparing pharmaceuticals in a Medical Facility.

- Serve as a professional pharmacist in an outpatient pharmacy; preparing prescriptions ordered by physicians, dentist, and other licensed practitioners.
- Formulate, prepare, bulk compound, dispense and preserve drugs, medicines, and chemicals.
- Advise on drug therapy and usage; or perform administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work concerning the administration of a pharmacy program for hospital, clinic, or other medical care facility.
- Performs day-to-day management of the Pharmacy Service budget to include projection to new fiscal year expenditures.
- Conducts and oversees the pharmacy Service Drug Quality Control program.
- As a Supervisory Pharmacist, you may also supervise Pharmacy Technicians in performance of work related to sterile products, prescription filing, and ward/clinic supply.
- As a Supervisory Pharmacist, you may also provide authoritative professional guidance on problems of difficult, complex, or unusual nature.

- Position is be designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Advance certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations.
- One year probationary period may be required.
- For Supervisory positions, one-year supervisory probationary period is required.
