The IT Helpdesk and Security Specialist supports the Director of IT in managing computer systems, infrastructure, and assets, while helping to implement IT projects and maintain networks and software. The role also assists with data backup, retention, cybersecurity measures, and ensures compliance with PES policies and procedures.

General Function:

IT Strategy:
  • Assist with budgeting for the IT Department to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and cost-efficiency.
  • Provide recommendations for improving IT-related processes, software, and equipment based on performance reviews and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with the IT Director to align IT spending with business growth and innovation goals.
  • Monitor and optimize IT operational costs, including licensing, cloud services, and vendor contracts.

IT Infrastructure Management:
  • Identify, analyze, and qualify PES technology requirements in line with the organization's strategic objectives/goals.
  • Support the deployment, implementation, and use of technologies, balancing performance against cost, to ensure the Company's financial resources are effectively utilized.
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, maintenance, renewals, refresh, and licensing.
  • Help with the development of standard operating procedures, how-to guides, how-to videos, and establish an effective learning management platform to facilitate these to end-users.
  • Perform regular IT Inventory (assets, equipment, licensing, etc.) to help ensure effective asset management.
  • Assist with managing vendor relationships and work to obtain the most competitive prices for the PES.
  • Assist the IT Director with SharePoint maintenance, folder security, and upgrades.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation/preparedness for CMMC 2.0 certification.

Information Security:
  • Support and manage IT security awareness training platforms and campaigns.
  • Implement and maintain security controls to protect systems, networks, and sensitive data.
  • Monitor network activity to detect and respond to potential security breaches.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate risks.
  • Research emerging cybersecurity threats, tools, and best practices.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Recommend security enhancements to the IT Director and technical teams.
  • Assist end-users with security tools and procedures, ensuring proper usage and compliance.
  • Investigate security incidents and document findings, including impact analysis.
  • Deploy and manage security technologies such as firewalls, antivirus software, and encryption tools.
  • Design and maintain disaster recovery and incident response plans.

IT Service Management:
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify high-priority IT issues through surveys, meetings, and other interactions, and develop/deliver solutions with delivery timelines.
  • Use and manage the ticketing system to meet end-user support requirements and incident handling.
  • Assist with developing innovative helpdesk troubleshooting methodologies that reduce downtime and lower operational costs.
  • Assist the IT Director in developing and disseminating relevant manuals, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist the IT Director in designing, planning, delivering, operating, and controlling the Company's Information Technology services.
  • Report issues to the Director of IT.

Qualifications:

Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and have knowledge of Excel spreadsheets.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Demonstrate excellent prioritizing skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and busy environment.
  • Expected to work closely with other department groups on problems involving IT.
  • Assures effective communications are maintained within areas of responsibility.
  • Experience with cloud computing, Office 365 Commercial/GCC High management preferred.
  • Knowledge of Entra ID, Intunes, AWS, GSuite, domain registration, DNS management (Cloudflare) preferred.
  • Experience with personal computers and various software applications required.
