Description: This position provides advisory and assistance support (A&AS) services to the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force, International Affairs (SAF/IA), International Engagements Directorate (SAF/IAN) in its role of supporting the USAF foreign liaison program for 170+ senior military diplomats (international attachés) from over 100 nations who's embassies are located in the National Capitol Region

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assisting in developing and implementing the USAF foreign liaison program for 170+ senior military diplomats from over 100 nations
  • Supporting USG personnel in the planning and execution of international attaché engagements that includes:
    • Chief of Staff (CSAF) of the Air Force counterpart visits (CPVs) while ensuring international protocols are observed at all events
    • CSAF sponsored orientation and cultural tours
    • Senior Enlisted Leader International Symposium (SELIS)
    • International attaché social and sports events
    • Quarterly attaché accreditation ceremonies
  • Arranging for accreditation of foreign attachés and perform recurring administrative updates to keep the attaché corps equipped to accomplish their missions
  • Providing International Air Attaché administrative support
  • Developing business cases for use of Official Representational Funds (ORF) in accordance with governing regulations
  • Synchronizing Air Force senior leadership foreign engagement strategies with the US Department of State, USAF MAJCOMs, Geographic Combatant Commands (GCCs), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), and sister services
  • Assisting in preparing meetings and escorting high-level US government and international personnel during international engagements
  • Providing input to USAF Security Cooperation Enterprise stakeholders including the US Department of State, Geographic Combatant Commands (GCCs), USAF MAJCOMs, OSD, JCS, and sister services for action and response to Partner Nation Government/Ministry of Defense and Air Force requests
  • Preparing briefings, presentations, and discussion material
  • Providing Enterprise Task Management Software Solution (EMTS2) support and oversight, assist in preparing correspondence, reports, documents, and task tracking through Tasker completion

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree with a desired emphasis in an International Affairs curriculum.
  • SECRET Security Clearance
  • Strong program management skills
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience with demonstrated effectiveness and success as a HAF staff action officer in either a military, civilian, or contractor role
  • Knowledge and general understanding of USAF roles and missions
  • Knowledge and understanding of military/international cultures and protocol
  • Experience planning conference and travel events
  • Experience implementing security cooperation, international affairs, security assistance, foreign military sales (FMS) to include policies, processes, and legislation
  • Knowledge and understanding of SAF/IA's role in the US government and international security cooperation community, and the organizations with which SAF/IA works
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to confidently interact with senior DAF and USAF officials, foreign officers, and staff at foreign embassies
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office and SharePoint
  • Thorough understanding of:
    • DODI 1315.20, Military Department Foreign Area Officer Programs
    • CJCSI 3126.01, Language and Regional Expertise Planning
    • AFPD 16-1, International Affairs
    • AFI 16-109, International Affairs Specialist Program; and
    • USAF Global Partnership Strategy
