Job Overview:
TEKsystems is seeking an entry level candidate with 2-4 years of experience within the information technology space for a 9 month contract to hire opportunity with a local company out at Scott Air Force base.
Program Overview:
The core communications capabilities supported by GSM-O enables the Warfighter to meet operational needs by providing world-wide telecommunications, supporting natural disaster relief, and conducting humanitarian assistance in peace time crises, regional conflicts, and at the same time executing on-going strategic deterrence activities
Job Responsibilities:
• Create and update tickets utilizing DISA ticketing applications to aid in customer problem tracking and resolution in all aspects of the network integral to our clients Baseband, IF and RF communications.
• Monitor network events and element management failures in real-time on a 24x7x365 basis.
• Perform IP network support to include configuration of routers, switches, firewalls and voice equipment.
• Perform IP satellite modem support to include configuration and issue of option/boot/RSP files.
• Remotely access and de-access customers into the IP/SATCOM networks.
• Work with DoD SATCOM Gateway facilities and deployed operators to troubleshoot and resolve SATCOM and IP network issues.
• Verify equipment is operating in the baseline configuration.
• Remotely provide global equipment configurations at DoD SATCOM Gateways utilizing the Satellite Access Authorization (SAA) and Gateway Access Authorization (GAA).
Requirements:
• 2-4 years of experience in the information technology space with 1-2 years being in a SATCOM environment
• Moderate understanding and experience with Satellite Communications (SATCOM) architecture and signal flow
• Active Secret DoD Security Clearance
• Must have DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE, or equivalent) at start date.
• This position requires an active DoD Clearance (Secret, Top Secret, or Top Secret/SCI).
• Because an active DoD clearance is required, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Starting off as support specialist eventually moving into the NOC where the contractor will become a networking admin/operator/engineer. If they have a Secret they will begin the process of upgrading to a TS or it will hold them at a TS level if they already have it.
