Position Overview
This is a security-focused engineering role supporting large-scale network migration efforts for U.S. Army infrastructure. The position involves working with AppGate and Palo Alto technologies, with a focus on firewall configuration and site transitions. Candidates should have strong networking and security expertise, particularly in migration planning and execution.
Key Focus Areas
• Work with AppGate and Palo Alto software and configurations to support secure network operations.
• Participate in the migration of Army sites from legacy infrastructure to updated platforms.
• Support both agency-level and base-level transitions, including:
○ Migrating configurations from legacy systems to new platforms.
○ Converting Cisco ASA firewalls to Palo Alto at the base level.
Migration Process
• Begin after hardware installation is complete.
• Prioritize site transitions from west to east.
• Collaborate with routing and switching teams to:
○ Identify current base configurations.
○ Develop and refine migration plans.
○ Adjust firewall configurations as needed.
Scheduling & Execution
• Coordinate and execute Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs), typically during evening hours.
• Receive approximately two weeks’ notice per ASI.
• Expect to conduct 1–2 ASIs per week.
Additional Details
• Fully remote position with minimal travel requirements.
• AppGate experience is preferred but not required—candidates with transferable skills and familiarity with similar tools are encouraged to apply.
