Duties
Help
  • Provide advisory services to management officials on transportation programmatic issues to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Present Defense Transportation Tracking System (DTTS) orientation briefs at major transportation, logistics, safety, and security conferences to increase awareness and build stakeholder engagement.
  • Represent Defense Transportation Tracking System (DTTS) operations in domestic and international forums to strengthen partnerships and promote program objectives.
  • Maintain supply inventories to ensure adequate materials and resources are available for uninterrupted DTTS operations.
  • Direct subordinate work priorities to ensure efficient coverage in a 24/7 transportation operations environment.
  • Counsel employees on professional growth to build skills and prepare the workforce for expanded responsibilities.
  • Resolve conflicts among staff members to maintain harmony and productivity within the organization

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated, must be exempted from recall to active duty.
  • Position may require incumbent to work rotating work shifts, weekends and holidays. May be contacted outside of normal duty hours to assist with serious incidents, emergencies, or accidents, and notify leadership as needed.
  • A one year Supervisory probation period is required to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties, unless previously completed.
  • Position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergencies natural or man made incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Managing transportation operations within a centralized tracking and monitoring system to ensure compliance organizational policies; (2) Developing implementing traffic management policies and operating requirements to support mission objectives in a 24/7 operational environment; (3) Preparing and delivering executive-level briefings, reports, and presentations to senior leaders, dignitaries, and interagency stakeholders; (4) Conducting program analyses and feasibility studies to evaluate proposed transportation initiatives and forecast operational requirements; and (5) Supervising and/or leading employees in transportation management functions by assigning work, evaluating performance, or ensuring adherence to safety, security, and regulatory standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
