In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Support Positions, General Inspection Investigation Enforcement and Compliance Series 1801
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of complex inspection, investigation, enforcement, and/or compliance principles, concepts, and practices; as well as knowledge of Public Laws, Executive Orders, DoD Regulations, Air Force Instructions, administrative and legal procedures, and other decisions/standards related to agency activities and IG programs sufficient to conduct interviews, inspections, and investigations to analyze the nature of complaints and specific issues to be addressed. Knowledge of Air Force, MAJCOM, and wing/center/installation program goals and objectives; Inspector General (IG) functions, operations, policies, procedures, and practices; the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones; and the relationship of various installation entities involved in overall program planning and execution of military operations and evaluations. Knowledge of personnel management, EEO, and safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1.Knowledge of a wide range of complex inspection, investigation, enforcement, and/or compliance principles, concepts, and practices; as well as knowledge of Public Laws, Executive Orders, DoD Regulations, Air Force Instructions, administrative and legal procedures, and other decisions/standards related to agency activities and IG programs sufficient to conduct interviews, inspections, and investigations to analyze the nature of complaints and specific issues to be addressed.
2.Knowledge of Air Force, MAJCOM, and wing/center/installation program goals and objectives; IG functions, operations, policies, procedures, and practices; the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones; and the relationship of various installation entities involved in overall program planning and execution of military operations and evaluations.
3.Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of an organization; and to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
4.Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing; as well as using tact and diplomacy during difficult circumstances to advise/inform on complicated, sensitive, and occasionally controversial issues.
5. Knowledge of personnel management, EEO, and safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
6. Skill in assessing program needs to accomplish goals and objectives, evaluate program status, and recommend or implement solutions for improvement.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

- Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Inspection Division, ensuring that the command's Inspection Program complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
- Represents United States Air Forces in Europe-United States Air Forces in Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA) with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
- Serves as the Inspector Generals Chief Analyst for all inspection-related data and resulting trends. Assesses readiness, discipline, efficiency, and economy of assigned Air Force units.
- Responsible to the Commander, USAFE-AFAFRICA, 3d Air Force (NAF), and other senior management officials in the development of primary mission goals and objectives.

- Personal Protective Equipment to include safety-toed shoes, hard hat or other similar protective gear or clothing will be required.

- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- A Master's degree or equivalent experience in public management, administration or criminal justice is highly desired but not mandatory.
- Prior experience working in an Inspector General office in a USAF unit is mandatory.
- IAW AF guidance, incumbent must complete the Installation Inspector General Training Course (IIGTC) within 90 days of appointment; must complete the USAF Basic Inspectors Course (cont'd)
