VMware / RHEL Systems Engineer
Location: Remote
Position Overview
We are seeking a VMware and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Systems Engineer to support our federal customer. The candidate will be responsible for designing, deploying, managing, and securing virtualized environments and Linux servers in compliance with government cybersecurity requirements.

Key Responsibilities
· Install, configure, and manage VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter environments.
· Deploy, patch, and maintain RHEL servers in classified and unclassified environments.
· Perform system hardening and compliance checks in accordance with DISA STIGs and NIST 800-53.
· Troubleshoot performance issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
· Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
· Automate routine tasks with Ansible, Bash, or Python scripting.
· Apply security patches and updates in line with DoD Information Assurance (IA) requirements.
· Generate system documentation, standard operating procedures, and change requests.
· Provide Tier II/III support and mentor junior system administrators.

Required Qualifications
· U.S. Citizenship
· Active Secret (or higher) Security Clearance.
· 5+ years of experience with VMware vSphere administration.
· 3+ years of RHEL system administration experience.
· Familiarity with DoD STIGs, RMF, and DISA SRGs.
· Experience with virtualization networking, storage, and performance optimization.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
· VMware VCP Certification.
· Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or RHCE.
· Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or containerization.
· Knowledge of automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
· Familiarity with DoD cloud initiatives (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
