The primary purpose of this position is: to serve as Section Small Shop Chief no more than 25% of the time over journey level mechanics involved in maintaining avionics equipment and to provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks herein.
DUTIES:
DUTY 1: Performs administrative supervisory duties over the journey level mechanics in the section no more than 25 percent of the time. Responsible for the internal scheduling of work within the work center and plans daily work of subordinates. Cleans work area and equipment. Maintains an organized work area and practices good housekeeping.
DUTY 2: Installs electronic systems, components, or subassemblies in aircraft. Prepares all necessary paperwork required to document maintenance actions taken. Provides technical guidance, training and/or assistance to lower graded employees. Controls tools. Ensures tools are properly marked, calibrated (if necessary), and secured when area is unattended.
DUTY 3: Performs pretest, operational (functional), or final testing of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies. Troubleshoots electronic systems, components, or subassemblies to determine nature of malfunction and corrective action required. Improvises changes to techniques and/or extends the use of conventional equipment to accurately meet technical specifications and ensure that components are operational.
DUTY 4: Performs overhaul, repair, fabrication, or modification of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies. Provides technical guidance, training, and/or assistance to lower graded employees, as necessary. Performs the final tuning, alignment, or calibration of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies.
DUTY 5: Certifies work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program. As required, verifies and certifies work processes and procedures of certified co-workers and trainees, and adequacy of work accomplished. Utilizes safety practices and procedures and complies with security regulations, directives, and policies.

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for WG 2600-Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Group.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG 2600-Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC with little to no super vision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematic diagrams, blueprints and technical orders relating to electronics trade. Ability to follow budgeting directives, instructions, and procedures. Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools of the electronics trade and knowledge of tool equipment and materials accounting and security. Ability to clean work area and/or job site upon completion of work. Knowledge of mathematical expressions and formulae including algebra and basic trigonometry for application in constructing truth tables, logic equations, power relationships, signal phasing, etc. Comprehensive knowledge of operation, capabilities and limitations of complex electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi-component assemblies and devices. Knowledge of related electrical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems. Skill in the selection and ability to use of a variety of electronic, electrical, or electromechanical test and measurements equipment, and electronic testing equipment and to test complete systems. Ability to install, overhaul, repair, fabricate, calibrate, test, and/or troubleshoot complete electronic systems. Ability to operate a computer. Knowledge of applicable personnel, manpower, time and attendance, and budgeting instructions, guidelines, and requirements. Knowledge of safety and security requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations and technical orders. Knowledge of USAF Technical Orders Program and its procedures.

Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 4 hours per week. Hours of standing are 10 hours per week. Hours of crawling are 1 hour per week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception. - This is an Air Reserve Technical (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments.
