Job Summary:

B&A is looking for a senior DBA to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale, complex databases in a client/server environment. The DBA will play a critical role in ensuring database performance, security, and integrity, while supporting enterprise systems and advising users on efficient database access and usage. This role requires deep expertise in relational database management systems, SQL development, and database administration best practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive database administration for enterprise-level systems, including design, creation, implementation, and maintenance of client/server databases.
  • Project long-range requirements for database administration and design in coordination with information systems leadership.
  • Perform quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
  • Advise and assist users in accessing and utilizing client/server databases.
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex databases with consideration for JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, data organization, security, documentation, and performance optimization.
  • Apply expertise in database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end/back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL).
  • Perform database programming tasks and support overall systems design.
  • Maintain database dictionaries, monitor standards and procedures, and manage file design and storage structures.
  • Ensure seamless integration of enterprise systems through robust database design.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve performance issues to ensure high availability and reliability of databases.

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience with database query languages such as Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL Server, and MS Access.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), with the ability to work across various operating systems and additional programming languages.

Required Skills:
  • Experience on at least two projects in a large organization involving administration, operation, maintenance, and security of large-scale databases.
  • Hands-on expertise with major RDBMS platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and database programming.
  • Experience with performance tuning, high availability, replication, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Proven experience in data security, compliance frameworks, and auditing practices.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL and Big Data technologies (MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop, etc.) is a plus.
  • Proficiency with scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
  • Exposure to data warehousing and BI/analytics platforms.
  • Certification in Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or AWS/Azure database services.
  • Knowledge of containerized databases (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).

Security Clearance
  • Active Secret clearance.
