Responsibilities
Program Description
The FALSTAFF contract has just begun it's 2nd year of a 7 year contract. The program provides SETA (Systems Engineering Technical Advisor) & SE&I (Systems Engineering & Integration) services to an IC customer with a focus on assured space communications and supporting IT infrastructure. This is primarily broken into three major support functions including systems engineering, capability acquisition, and mission operations. Systems engineering support focuses on the end-to-end processes for managing programs, including readiness, configuration management, integrated master schedule, systems analysis, future studies and innovations. Acquisition support is focused on helping government COTRs in all aspects of managing development contracts to deliver capabilities that meet requirements. Mission operations roles include the support to integrating new capabilities into operations and leading anomalies response teams when issues arise.
Specific Opportunity Description
This is a lead position for the Operations Segment program and is primarily responsible for supporting the OS COTR to ensure the end-to-end success of the OS mission thread. This position will lead a team of matrixed SETA that will support all functions of the Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) from working new requirements through transition to operations. This position will work closely with the development contractors to facilitate SAFe Agile software development delivery cycles, working to coordinate priorities across the entire SCO enterprise. The position will provide SME level advisory support to the OS COTR, covering all aspects of software development, test and integration, transition to operations, capability acquisition management, etc., which is necessary to support the OS mission thread. As the Operations Segment evolves, more emphasis will be placed on transitioning to cloud based operations. Other duties will include:

- Support COTR in managing all aspects of a large software development and maintenance contract, including managing budget, schedule and technical items.
- Maintain subject matter expert (SME) level knowledge of the OS architecture, interfaces, and capabilities.
- Lead task management, prioritization and assignments for supporting team
- Facilitate weekly team meetings to review project status and support needs
- Maintain awareness of user needs, ConOps and requirements
- Lead feature planning and development for periodic build prioritization planning functions
- Provide draft recommendation briefings on any number of topics in support of the customer
- Provide input to the weekly activity report
- Provide SME level training to new personnel
- Guide team members through all parts of the systems engineering 'vee' (user needs, feature development, verification and validation, test and integration, transition to operations and operations support)
This position is based in Chantilly, VA.
Qualifications
Required:
- Relevant Experience: 12 to 15 years with BS, 10 to 13 years with MS, or 10+ years with PhD
- Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI with Poly
- Technical BS in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree.
- 5 years of relevant experience in supporting systems engineering or software development/acquisition programs can be substituted for the degree requirement.
- 5 years of leading or facilitating agile software development processes.
- Technical team leadership experience.
- The ability to work well within a team of engineers.
- Demonstrated success in working with government customers.
Desired:
- 5-10 years of experience supporting the Commercial/Government systems acquisition lifecycle, test and integration of ground systems or segment hardware/software solutions
- BS in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Computer Science.
- Prior experience with cloud infrastructure or transitioning capabilities into the cloud.
- Prior experience as a SETA with FALSTAFF IC agency customer working acquisition support for a system development.
- Prior experience with ground software planning and scheduling RF based satellite communications systems.
