Halcyon Days Consulting, LLC (HDC) is a veteran owned small business that specializes in the design and engineering of Tactical Mission Networks (TMN). This is a unique opportunity to join a small and high-performing team committed to delivering cloud platforms for exciting missions.
HDC is seeking an experienced Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer who will design, implement, and maintain secure cloud-based solutions, ensuring that security measures are integrated into all aspects of cloud infrastructure and applications. The role involves conducting threat and risk analysis of, proactively hunting for threats, securing hybrid and multi-cloud environments, and ensuring compliance with industry best practices and regulatory frameworks. The Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer will lead efforts in vulnerability assessment, threat hunting, incident detection, and security automation while collaborating with cross-functional teams to safeguard mission critical systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Design, deploy and manage cloud security architectures in AWS, Azure and/or other commercial or private cloud environments.
Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security weaknesses.
Implement and monitor cloud-native security controls, such as firewall, encryption, IAM policies, and logging/monitoring solutions/
Develop and maintain security baselines, hardening guides, and compliance templates for cloud services.
Automate security processes and integrate security tooling into CI/CD pipelines.
Analyze network traffic, event logs, and security alerts too detect anomalous behavior and potential breaches.
Respond to and manage security incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective measures.
Maintain awareness of evolving cyber threats, vulnerabilities and security technologies relevant to cloud environments.
Document and maintain IT security policies, procedures, and compliance evidence/
Provide security guidance and technical expertise to internal teams and customers.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
BAchelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Perform proactive threat hunting activities, analyzing security data to identify undetected threats, suspicious patterns, and emerging attack techniques.
5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering with a focus on cloud environments.
Strong knowledge of security frameworks and best practices.
Experience with vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection/prevention, and incident response.
Familiarity with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, or similar) and DevSecOps.
Proficiency in analyzing security logs, network traffic, and attack artifacts.
Strong understanding or TCP/IP, common network protocols, OSI model and defense-in-depth principles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Relevant certifications such as CCSP, CISSP, Security+, AWS Certified Security, or Azure Security Engineer Associate.
Proficiency with advanced security monitoring, threat hunting platforms, and forensic tools.
Experience working in DoD or federal environments and familiarity with compliance programs (e.g, FedRAMP, DoD SRG, RMF).
Experience with security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) tools.
Proficiency with advanced security monitoring and forensic tools.
Experience integrating security into containerized and microservices architectures (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
