Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Principal Quality Engineer to join our team in Linthicum, MD on a dynamic and exciting program within the Northrop Grumman Corporation portfolio.

Some of the duties will be:
  • Works with cross functional groups to apply and maintain the AS9100 quality management system at ATL: fab, test, and assembly areas.
  • Encourages and utilizes continuous improvement to better site operations and help internal and external customers of ATL.
  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
  • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
  • May have Software Quality Experience.
  • Preferred experience in semiconductor manufacturing and/or test environment.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors in STEM field and a minimum of five years professional technical or fabrication experience,
  • Experience in a Quality Management System (ISO9001 or AS9100 preferred)
  • Experience working in cross functional teams
  • Experience working with and enforcing design specifications
  • Experienced using software/tools for statistical analysis.
  • Experience working in a customer service role/function
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Security Clearance
  • Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) process.
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with electrical and/or mechanical design requirements and specifications.
  • Green/Black Belt Certified in Lean Six-sigma.
  • SAP experience with Quality Notifications, Production Orders and Purchase Orders.
  • Experience in a Semi-conductor Fab.
  • Experience as part of Root Cause Analysis or Risk Management teams.
  • Experience with data analysis with experience in presenting data.
  • Experience with dispositioning hardware for quality related issues in a manufacturing facility.


Primary Level Salary Range: $95,800.00 - $143,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
