Duties
- Performs a complete range of issuing/receiving duties of assigned tools and equipment.
- Maintains tools and equipment in accordance with applicable directives.
- Performs as primary or alternate custodian for some of the major programs assigned to the support section.
- Prepares and packs tools and equipment for deployments based on mission requirements.
- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintans a safe and clean work environment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6900 Warehousing And Stock Handling Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a TOOLS AND PARTS ATTENDANT without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide variety of tools and equipment.
2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
3. Ability to use tools/equipment; store various items; set up and maintain a neat, well organized, and secure storage area; store, issue, and inventory tools and/or equipment; and maintain records using automated and/or mechanized systems without more than normal supervision.
4. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc., from shop personnel and tools and equipment manuals.
5. Ability to inspect tools and equipment for visible damage and make determinations as to feasibility of repair.
6. Ability to suggest substitution of tools and equipment when they are damaged beyond repair; determine causes of overages/shortages; determine need for calibration of tools; and identify items by general descriptions from shop personnel.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require walking, standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 40 pounds. May occasionally handle items weighing up to 60 pounds. May lift heavier items with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is generally done in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. The attendant may occasionally work in areas
that are drafty. The work is sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. The attendant is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
