About the Role:
Aquila is seeking a Business/Data Analyst t o join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations. This position plays a key role in bridging HR business needs with ServiceNow capabilities, particularly in support of projects to rollout solutions for post-boarding, timesheets, employee experience, and future growth in areas like mentoring, development plans, and performance management.
There are a few requirements for the position:

- Must be a U.S Citizen- Must be able to obtain an an Active Secret Clearance (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
- Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
- Must be within 100 miles of worksite (Lexington, MA)
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Business Analysis & Process Design (50%)
- Engage with HR stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document requirements for ServiceNow solutions across HR functions.
- Translate complex business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows.
- Support design of workflows for use cases such as post-boarding, employee growth planning, mentoring, and internal mobility.
2. Platform Support & ServiceNow Collaboration (30%)
- Collaborate with ServiceNow developers to translate requirements into functional configurations.
- Validate solutions through UAT coordination, feedback sessions, and iterative refinement.
- Assist in system documentation, training materials, and process change communications.
3. Stakeholder & Project Engagement (20%)
- Contribute to project planning, backlog grooming, and release readiness across concurrent initiatives.
- Facilitate cross-functional working sessions with stakeholders to align process and policy impacts.
- Support the Project Manager in managing project status, risks, and resource alignment.
Department & Reporting:
- This position is part of the Human Resources Department and reports to the HRIS Manager.
Collaboration: The Business Systems Analyst will work closely with:
- HRIS team (HRIS Manager, Project Manager, Developers, Analysts)
- Business Owners within the HR Department
- Various Process Owners and Stakeholders outside the HR Dept.
- ISD Enterprise Service Management (ESM) and ServiceNow developers
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None directly.
- Financial Responsibilities:
- None, but may assist in solution evaluation, licensing, or planning.
QualificationsRequired:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, HR, or a related field-or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience working with the ServiceNow platform, preferably in business analyst, systems analyst, or product owner roles
- Strong analytical and documentation skills (e.g., process mapping, user stories, use cases)
- Ability to translate business requirements into platform configurations and support iterative solution design
- Experience collaborating with developers and stakeholders to deliver enterprise workflow solutions
- Comfortable facilitating meetings, gathering requirements, and leading UAT activities
Preferred:
- Experience with ServiceNow HR Service Delivery (HRSD), including Case Management, Lifecycle Events, or Employee Center
- Familiarity with HR processes such as onboarding, time & attendance, goal setting, mentoring, or performance management
- Exposure to Agile delivery practices (e.g., backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint reviews)
- Experience handling confidential employee data in a secure or regulated environment
