Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Ground Systems Hardware Engineer to lead the Ground Segment Hardware Architecture and Design, ensuring that performance, interfaces, and both functional and non-functional requirements are fully met. The selected candidate will play a critical role in developing engineering solutions and practices for key Ground System capabilities, including:
Edge Compute
Command and Control
Network and Communication Systems
Mission Planning
Situational Awareness
Multilevel Data Management
Key Responsibilities:
Lead efforts with customers to develop and document electronic and electrical system requirements on complex multi-tiered projects.
Analyze and translate complex requirements into system architectures, hardware designs, and interface specifications.
Direct testing and validation activities on complex system designs to ensure operational and functional requirements are met.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop program test strategies.
Manage supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
Conduct independent program reviews and present results to leadership.
Provide critical support for fielded hardware and software throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Research and evaluate new technology advances for potential application to company programs and business needs.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
Senior (Level 5):
Bachelor’s degree with 14+ years of related work experience, OR
Master’s degree with 12+ years of related work experience, OR
PhD with 9+ years of related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with network and communications systems.
Hands-on experience with cloud-based and edge computing systems.
Familiarity with multi-domain security hardware and related certification efforts.
Background in ground-based mission planning and debrief systems.
Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring junior engineers.
Proven ability to manage suppliers and ensure requirements compliance.
Top Technical Skills:
Visio (system design documentation)
ANSYS / Cameo (model-based systems engineering tools)
Supplier and requirements management expertise
Hardware architecture and integration leadership
Special Access Clearance Considerations:
• Must be a natural born US Citizen
• Good financial standing, no bankruptcies or active debt collection
• Clean record with law enforcement (no felonies)
• Parents must be USC with no dual citizenship
• Spouse must be a USC with no dual citizenship
• No close relationship with foreign friends or relatives.
