Major Duties and Responsibilities
Directs the efforts of other American Electricians and Elevator Technicians in the performance of maintenance and repair of Embassy primary and standby electrical systems, elevators, associated motor connections and controls, and overall Post electrical service and distribution under supervision of the American Facilities Supervisor .
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Directs or performs repair and maintenance of electrical power generation equipment, automatic starting systems, automatic power transfer switches, operational control and alarmsystems, service and distribution systems including low and medium voltage, main and distribution switchboards, panelboard fuses and transformers, motor connections and controls including starters and motor control centers; lighting including incandescent, fluorescent, recessed, surface, weatherproof, vapor tight and underwater, dimmers, and signal and fire alarm systems including pull stations, ionization smoke detectors, sprinkler flow switches, supervisory valve and control panels.
Directs or performs performance of preventive maintenance in accordance with schedules, operating procedures and equipment warranties.
Directs or performs repair of components such as rectifiers, invertors, associated generating and distribution equipment.
Directs or conducts tests of equipment using voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, continuity testers, feeler gauges, frequency counters and other test equipment.
Directs adjustment of components to ensure optimum operating efficiency.
Analyzes malfunctions in electrical standby power systems, distribution systems, motor connections and controls by visual and auditory inspection and directs necessary adjustments and repairs.
Maintains records of all shop work accomplished and parts used.
Ensures compliance with all related published directives, work standards and technical publications
Directs or performs a variety of routine electrical maintenance and repair functions of a general nature as required.
Prepares input for periodic reports on the Electrical Shop operation including preventive maintenance, testing, and evaluations of utility systems.
With the locally employed Electrical Foreman develops schedules and work assignments for all tasks to be performed by Electrical Shop employees.
Evaluates performance of other American members of the Electrical Shop.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Licensed Master Electrician with a minimum of seven years' experience in maintenance of electrical equipment to include generators, dynamos, switchgear, distribution systems, and general building electrical maintenance and repair. At least three years of this experience must have been as a master. The experience must have included working from sketches, drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturers' operations and maintenance manuals. Must have Shop Foreman/Lead experience. Must have had training and experience working with, and maintaining, low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems. Must have oral and written communication skills sufficient to produce employee evaluations and written reports for upper management and to brief upper management on project status. A basic understanding of the Russian language is highly desirable. Must be 21 years of age, completed secondary school, or obtained a GED. A Top Secret clearance is required.
