Major Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent is employed as a Groundskeeping Foreman to manage and supervise the groundskeeping operations. The incumbent will direct or perform maintenance, repair and installation work on all exterior grounds components and systems in and outside of the Embassy Compound and the CMR. The incumbent shall apply industry best practices and applicable codes to all new and existing installations. The incumbent assigns or performs work generated by the Global Maintenance Management System (GMMS) and other work as directed. The incumbent attends required meetings, approves time sheets, facilitates ordering of parts and supplies, and manages schedules to ensure proper staffing. Travel to support maintenance at other posts may be required.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Performs groundskeeping duties and supervision of groundskeeping contractors.
  • Performs mechanical and engine maintenance on all groundskeeping equipment (i.e., Push mowers, riding mowers, snow blowers, Man-Lift and Bobcat).
  • Determines necessary spare parts and expendable supply requirements and manage stock to include reorder as required.
  • Travels to local venders as necessary to procure materials; participate in random procurement process as necessary; uses petty cash when necessary.
  • Backs-up other technical staff of support services contract as necessary.
  • Escorts uncleared employees into designated areas and monitors them while they perform maintenance duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and High School Graduate or GED
  • Top Secret Clearance
  • Have a minimum of five years' experience in general building maintenance and/or mechanical repair
  • Demonstrated knowledge of groundskeeping duties, use of cleaning equipment, products, their uses and effects, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry power tools, painting, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Must be able to perform physical labor and heavy lifting including equipment which may, upon occasion, include items up to 50 lbs.
  • Work from elevated platforms and ladders are required.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Five years' experience directing and managing personnel as a foreman, lead or supervisor is preferred.
