Duration: Direct Hire
Citizenship: US Citizen with active Secret Clearance
Rate: Direct Hire $60k for Junior, 100k for mid, 140k for Senior (some flex on all)

Summary:
Seeking VoIP Engineers to contribute to the testing and evaluation of cutting-edge FAA communication systems. In this role, you will support formal testing activities under the supervision of senior engineers, helping to validate the performance and reliability of ground-to-ground voice and data communications systems. You will gain hands-on experience with a variety of testing tools, methodologies, and network environments.
Responsibilities:
Support FAA formal system and software testing activities as part of a cross-functional engineering team testing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems.
Assist in developing and executing test plans, procedures, and documentation, review and comment on contractor delivered test plans and test procedures, witness testing verifying system requirements.
Design and/or perform testing of electrical and IP-based voice communication systems using industry tools such as Wireshark, LabVIEW, and GL Communications (e.g., MAPS, VQT, VQUAD).
Conduct and report on environmental and power testing (e.g., MIL-STD-810, EMI/EMC, inrush current, total harmonic distortion).
Apply knowledge of IPv4/IPv6 networking principles in configuring and testing systems.
Perform basic Linux commands to aid in system setup and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of Cisco switch configuration and operation in support of testing.
Support defect tracking, retesting, and test reporting processes.
Participate in site testing and evaluations at FAA/vendor facilities as needed.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or, Computer Engineering, discipline.
Qualifications:
Three (3) to twenty (20) years of experience in related VoIP engineering or test role.
Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages for test automation or data analysis.
Foundational understanding of TCP/IP protocol stack elements utilized in Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communication systems (e.g., session initiation protocol, real time transport protocol).
IPV4 and IPV6 networking knowledge and principles experience, including network impairment testing and reporting.
Ground-to-ground telephony and communication systems experience.
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with EUROCAE ED-137C and ED-138 standards and their applicability to the specification, design and development and test of FAA NAS IP voice communication systems.
Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW software for test application development.
Exposure to environmental test standards and methods (e.g., MIL-STD-810, Shock & Vibration Testing, EMI/EMC Testing, Humidity testing).
Experience using GL Communications testing applications (MAPS, VQT, VQUAD).
Working knowledge using Linux operating systems and issuing terminal-based commands.
Understanding of power testing principles and tools (e.g., power factor, inrush current measurement).
Knowledge and experience with Cisco switch configuration and operation.
Use of test and evaluation tools such as Wireshark or equivalent packet analyzers.
