About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Aircraft Mechanic I (Airframe Specialty) to support Organizational (O), Intermediate (I), and selected Depot (D)-Level maintenance for MH-53E and MH-60S aircraft at Naval Station Norfolk. This role supports CNAL/NAMCE’s mission to maintain readiness and ensure the safe operation of Navy aircraft.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on MH-53E and MH-60S aircraft.
• Troubleshoot and repair airframe, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, pneudraulic, engines, APU, ventilation, and heating systems.
• Repair and rebuild aircraft structures (wings, fuselage, rigging, surface controls, hydraulic units).
• Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet guns, shears, drills, and sheet metal brakes to complete repairs.
• Perform aircraft inspections, corrosion control, preservation/de-preservation, and modifications.
• Document all maintenance via logs, records, forms, and electronic systems.
• Support technical programs, including Corrosion Prevention, Tire & Wheel Safety, Fuel Surveillance, Hydraulic Contamination Control, FOD Prevention, and Tool Control.
• Supervise aircraft towing and jacking as needed, ensuring safety compliance.
• Maintain aircraft, engines, and support equipment logbooks.
• Execute Navy-specific programs (NAMDRP, Plane Captain Qualification, ESD/EMI reporting, CTPL, Hazardous Material Control, Oil Analysis, Egress Systems, and more).
Qualifications
• Experience: Combination of hands-on maintenance experience covering airframe structures, hydraulics, pneumatics, engines, electrical systems, and general mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical manuals, service bulletins, and engineering data.
• Knowledge of FAA practices and standards (FAA license not required).
• Must be able to perform aircraft inspections, troubleshooting, adjustments, and component replacements with minimal supervision.
• Secret clearance (active) required.
• Prior Navy/Marine Corps aircraft maintenance experience highly desirable.
