Computer Systems Hardware Engineer

A Day in the Life – What You’ll Do
• Define and document computer system and support infrastructure designs, including rack elevations, cabling, power, heating, and cooling requirements
• Develop engineering drawings, bill of materials, and baseline documentation to support integration activities
• Manage and control hardware engineering baselines, including change requests, redlines, and as-built updates
• Collaborate with supply chain teams to support hardware procurement and component specification definition
• Integrate and test servers, routers, switches, and storage solutions into mission-critical architectures
• Optimize hardware placement for airflow, cabling, density, and safety considerations
• Identify, analyze, and resolve system support deficiencies, providing corrective action recommendations
• Support domestic travel (up to 10%) and international deployment (up to 3 months) during the program deployment phase
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (or related technical field)
• 5 years with a bachelor's in science, 3 years with a Masters in Science degree, and 1 years with the PHD
• Active DoD Secret clearance
• Hands-on experience with requirements decomposition down to subsystem and component specifications
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, baseline management, and procurement processes
• Proficiency with cable management (Ethernet, fiber, power) in IT environments
• Experience integrating servers, switches, routers, and storage components
• Ability to optimize hardware layout for power, airflow, and stability considerations
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Teamcenter or other PLM systems
• Ability to calculate power demands and thermal loads for large IT environments
• Experience conducting heating and cooling analysis for high-performance systems
• Familiarity with RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers)
• Experience using MBSE tools such as Cameo
