Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
- Carpentry: Build, repair, paint, alter, and install wooden articles and structures. Construct and install window frames, window frames, door frames, interior walls, floors, ceilings, closets, counters, shelves, casing, wood foundations, and similar structures. Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions. Determines work sequence, materials and tools to be used. Proficient use of common carpentry hand and portable power tools, industrial shop woodworking equipment, and standard measuring tools such as ruler, carpenter's square, and level. Measure and cuts material to required lengths for installation in accordance with common building practice.
- Electrical: Ability to locate, trace circuits and reset breakers as necessary. Replace light bulbs and ballasts as necessary. Proficient use with specialized measuring instruments such as voltmeters, amp meter, multimeter.
- Plumbing: Assemble, install, and repair various plumbing fixtures (i.e. sinks, toilets, faucets, etc.). Proficient us of hand and power tools of the plumbing trade.
- HVAC: Possess working knowledge of basic sequence of operations for mechanical systems such as chill water, hot water, heat pump, air handling units, and condensing/evaporating units. Ability to locate source and determine cause of malfunction.
- Perform project site visits and prepare scopes of work as required.
- Select the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials needed on worksite and determine the extent of work to be done.
- Prepare project cost and quantity estimates. Prepare orders for material, tools, and consumable tool items required to complete assigned task.
- Receive, lift, store, and maintain project materials, tools, and consumable tool items. Maintain organized workspace with accountability of all items.
- Maintain project records of data.
- Perform duties of Building Monitor IAW NAVFAC Hawaii policy (NAVFAC Hawaii will provide this training).
- Regular walkthroughs of all -8 facilities on Ford Island and Pearl City Peninsula to identify deficiencies for repair or submit Work Requests for repair through NAVFAC.
- Must have working knowledge of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and HVAC systems and principles.
- Possess at a minimum of five (5) years working experience and in-depth knowledge of related duties.
- Must be able to lift supplies and equipment weighing up to 85 lbs.
- Possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive government vehicles when required.
- Be able to operate a Personal Computer (PC) with common/standard business software programs.
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
- Enter data into multiple databases accurately.
