Job Description
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing housekeeping services as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Provides janitorial services to include sweeping, mopping, waxing, stripping and buffing floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets, dusting furniture, cleaning restroom facilities, washing windows and walls as necessary.
• Responsible for removing trash.
• Responsible for identifying and replacing burned out light bulbs.
• May load, unload and move furniture.
• May transport furniture or equipment to storage.
• May receive cleaning supplies.
• Perform other duties as may be required by supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Experience and Skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Attention to Detail -Ensures details of assigned tasks are followed.
Attendance / Punctuality -Is consistently at work and on time.
Planning and Organization -Systematically identifies issues to be addressed and plans a course of action for self to ensure the accomplishment of specific objectives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications
• US Citizenship required.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense (DOD) SECRET
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of previous experience working in a janitorial capacity.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Familiar with cleaning supplies and proper use of chemical cleaners.
• Ability to operate buffers.
• Valid driver's license.
WORK ENVIROMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work Environment & Conditions
This position involves work in an office and laboratory environment and could require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including:
• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection (varies based on tasks)
• Protective shoes
Physical Demands
In performing the work for this position, the Technician must be able to:
• Bend and stoop by bending at the waist or legs.
• Lift up to 50 lbs. on a periodic basis.
• Climb ladders and stairs in performing work.
• Lift, push, pull and/or carry objects in the arms or on the shoulders on a regular basis.
• Ability to crawl in confined spaces as needed to perform work.
