Professional Chemist Series (1320) - Degree: A physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering degree that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.
OR
Professional Chemist Series (1320) - Substitution of Education/Experience: A combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

- You will use traditional laboratory techniques and a variety of laboratory instruments to perform complex chemical, mechanical, and physical analysis on a diverse range of materials.
- You will serve as a senior chemist leading technical projects involving: metals, high purity water, oxygen system cleaning solutions, lubricating and hydraulic fluids, cryogenic and compressed gases, paints, electroplating solutions, polymers, etc.
- You will troubleshoot existing laboratory processes and develop new ones to improve quality and/or reduce the time of processing.
- You will maintain proficiency to international standards that specify the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025).
- You will prepare results of analysis to be used for material certification, system certification, industrial process control, occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, and hazardous waste designation.
- You will evaluate the value, validity, and application of tests or data in order to predict and anticipate issues and formulate new standards or strategies.
- You will provide technical guidance to production, engineering, or other scientific organizations within and outside the command.
- You will evaluate changes in testing protocols, determine possible modifications to equipment, and initiate changes or new procedures to produce reliable results of testing protocols and procedures.
- You will perform data analysis and reduction to convert instrument response into reportable parameters using complex calculations.
